Ski Butternut's crew has done a great job preserving as much cover given the unseasonably warm weather here in the Northeast. Unfortunately, there's only so long that they can survive without colder temperatures and firing up the snowmaking system in the absence of natural snow falls. The edges of trails are beginning to recede towards the middle of the trails. Runs like Main Street are no longer all the way to the edge (no bumps there this season !). Upper Applejack, from the top of the quad to its main descent was probably the best packed powder because it was less granular than the main part of the run. Saturday was crowded with a large school group in attendance. Probably the busiest I've ever seen the mountain.
Overall, well done to Ski Butternut's snowmaking and grooming teams - now we need Mother Nature to do her part. |
