Groomed, Refrozen, Icy Spots

First visit to Stratton on Thu 3/13/2014. It's further south, so got more rain than northern Vermont resorts (such as Killington, Sugarbush and Stowe). The base is like other Intrawest - well-decorated, walkable shopping area, not like a typical lodge. I find that inviting. I've seen Snowshoe, Mont Tremblant, Vail - all Intrawest resorts - all similar. Shuttles and free room upgrades good. Lifts were delayed open but eventually most opened. It was windy and some snow in morning. COnditions vary on east coast mountains, just go when weather is good. Take day off and be prepared to retract it if weather turns out wrong. I would return to Stratton again. Probably not late season.

Tracked, Sunny, Making Snow

I was up at Stratton on Saturday 12/10 and they had excellent early season conditions - especially in the morning before it got tracked out. Only two big trails were open going from the top to the Ursa Lift with downloading from the Gondola. But, it was great for this time of year. Plus, the lift tickets were cheap at $19 which made it a good value for Stratton.
